GILBERT JOSEPH BERGHOFF, 81

Gilbert Joseph Berghoff, 81, passed away February 29, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born December 15, 1930, to the late Anthony and Dorothy (Pence) Berghoff, in Fort Wayne. His wife, Arlene (Neuman) Berghoff passed away in 1988. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served in the National Guard. He retired from NIPSCO, as a supervisor, in 1990 and went on to work for Kelly Automotive. He served on the Public Service Credit Union Board and served as President of the board at one time. Mr. Berghoff also served on the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, as a reserve, the Wayne Township Fire Department and the Allen County Historical Society and was a member of the American Legion Post 241.

He is survived by his children, Frank Berghoff and Jim (Susan) Berghoff both of Fort Wayne, Julie (Dave) Sullivan of Woodstock, Georgia and Jerry (Patty) Berghoff of Fort Wayne, his sister Nancy (Don) Kispert of Warsaw and brother, George (Sandy) Berghoff of New Haven and ten grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial was 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 5, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46804. Visitation Sunday from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
