ANOTHER YEAR OF SUCCESS FOR THE TASTE OF WAYNEDALE
The sun may not have shone outside on Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011 at Kingston Residence, but it was shining inside as an array of delicious smells wafted through the 3rd annual “Taste of Waynedale”.
The “Taste of Waynedale” has become increasingly popular over the past years. This year, individuals of all ages gathered to sample some of the tastiest area cuisines from an amazing 25 vendors from in and around the Waynedale area. These vendors provided over 80 different varieties of food that spanned all realms of the imagination. There was no possible way ones’ appetite could not be satisfied.
The celebration was not all about food though. The gala not only supports local businesses but strives to promote them in the Waynedale area, yet gives a tremendous amount back to the community. Businesses that didn’t have food type products still participated in the event. Many simply promoted their business and support by offering products or a service for the Silent Auction. The Silent Auction has become very successful and this year 52 merchants came together to raise over $2,800. The proceeds of a remarkable $8,500, from ticket sales and the Silent Auction, will go to Community Harvest Food Bank and Waynedale.com.
According to Kingston Marketing Director Camille Garrison, participating partners and restaurants included: Azar’s Big Boy, Bandido’s, Belmont Beverage, Casa Ristorante Italiano, China Palace, Chuck and Bird’s Bistro and Marketplace, Curves for Women, Dairy Queen, Ellison Bakery, GFS Marketplace, Hair Affair, Hall’s Original Drive In, Hill’s Meat Market, JW Signs, Key III Candy, Kingston Residence, The Lantern, Nine Mile Restaurant, Penguin Point, Pike’s Pub, Pizza Hut, Scott’s Foods, Spyro’s, Subway, The Stand, Waynedale Bakery, Waynedale Café and The Waynedale News.
Given the success of the event, there’s no reason to think that next year’s Taste of Waynedale will not only continue to impress but support the community and satisfy appetites once again.
