FORT WAYNE PARKS NOW OFFERING GIRLS SOFTBALL

Co-ed Youth Lacrosse back for second year

 

The Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department has added a softball program for girls to their long list of activities to keep kids moving.

•Instructional Softball, Wednesdays, May 19 – June 30, 6 – 7 pm, Ages 8-10.

With an emphasis on fun and learning, everyone gets to play. Girls will learn the fundamentals of straight pitch softball while playing in games with modified rules. There will be a basic practice session before games begin. Coaches will be on the field providing individual instruction. Participants only need to bring a softball glove. All other equipment will be provided. Location: Lawton Park, Clinton and 4th Street. Registration deadline: May 3. (There will be a $5 late fee for those signing up after the deadline.) Fee: $35.

•Recreational Softball, Tuesdays, May 18 – June 29, 6 – 7 pm, Ages 11- 14.

Fun is the major objective in this learning league for girls. The friendly competition and coaching will serve as excellent preparation for those thinking about playing High School straight pitch softball. Participants only need to bring a glove and enthusiasm. All other equipment will be provided. Location: Lawton Park, Clinton and 4th Street. Registration deadline: May 3. (There will be a $5 late fee for those signing up after the deadline.) Fee: $45.

•Instructional Youth Lacrosse

Ages 6 – 9: Saturdays, April 17 – May 22, 9 – 10 am

Ages 10 – 12: Saturdays, April 17 – May 22, 10 – 11 am

Looking for a sport that combines basketball, soccer and hockey? This instructional program for boys and girls will focus on teamwork, sportsmanship and FUN! Participants will learn the fundamentals of scooping, cradling, passing, catching and shooting the ball into the opponents’ net with a netted racquet referred to as “the crosse.” All equipment will be provided. Class sizes are limited, so register early. Location: Bob Arnold Park, Parnell Ave. Registration deadline: April 9. (There will be a $5 late fee for those signing up after the deadline.) Fee: $25.
