THE CROSS AND THE SWITCHBLADE

Monte and Rae Ann Fortney, along with Waynedale United Methodist Church, have announced that they are doing a reprise of their hit play, The Cross and the Switchblade, based on the book by Rev. David Wilkerson. Set in New York City in the late 1950s, the play, like the book, is a true story about a Pennsylvania preacher (Wilkerson) moved by an article he read inLife magazine to go to New York City to preach to the gangs, after seeing the pictures of seven young men accused of murder.

Said Monte Fortney, “Doing this story on stage has been a long time dream of mine. My goal is to reach as many young people as I can, and bring as many to Christ as He will allow through this play.”

Returning from his busy schedule in Hollywood, California, to reprise his role as Wilkerson, is veteran of both stage and screen, local talent Tad Atkinson. Tad gave a stunning performance last year, and there is no doubt that he will do so again.

Many others who were in last year’s performance will also be returning, as well as there being many new faces in the cast. The Fort Wayne public can rest assured that this show, like all of Fortney Enterprises’ productions, will be of the highest possible caliber.

Performances are scheduled for November 6th and 7th, as well as November 13th and 14th, 2009, at 7:30pm. As of this writing, most, if not all, of the performances will be at Waynedale United Methodist Church, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. However, several other churches in the Fort Wayne area have expressed interest in the show, so there may be a change in venue for some performances.
