HOOSIER FAN CELEBRATES 102ND BIRTHDAY MEETING DANE FIFE

Kingston Residence resident, Helen Blackledge turned 102 years old on Monday, August 24. A party was planned that afternoon in her honor including a visit from former IU player Dane Fife. Dane is currently the men’s basketball coach of IPFW. He generously volunteered his time to make Helen’s birthday one to remember. As a member of the IU team from 1998 – 2002 followed by a position as assistant coach to the team from 2003 – 2005, Dane is certainly a well-known figure associated with the popular Indiana team.

An IU basketball signed by current IU Coach Tom Crean, was donated by Never Too Late, a non-profit organization that makes dreams come true for seniors. They also provided a display case for the basketball as well as one for her current treasure, a basketball signed by former IU Coach Kelvin Sampson and team.
