5 KNIGHTS COMMIT TO USF TRACK AND FIELD

The University of Saint Francis is pleased to announce that five members of the Bishop Luers High School track and field team have committed to continue their education and track and field at USF starting in the fall of the 2009-10 school year.

 

BLHS head track and field coach Jason Draper presented the five during a signing session recently at Bishop Luers.

•Austin Carteaux, sprinter, 400m, 200m, relays

Parents: Thomas and Theresa Carteaux

Plans to major in Business

•Nichole Wellman, sprinter, mid-distance, 400m, 800m

Regional qualifier 4 x 800 relay

Parents: Larry and Linda Wellman

Plans to major in education

•Amy Swygart, pole vaulter, sprinter

Parents: Stephen and Michell Swygart

Plans to major in nursing

•Jennifer Byrd, thrower

2009 sectional champion in discus

Parents: Greg and Kathy Byrd

Plans to major in nursing

•Heather Thelen, sprinter, 400m, 200m, relays

State qualifier 2006 4 x 400m relay

Parents: Scott and Beth Thelen

Major: undecided

“I’m really looking forward to what these five athletes can achieve at the next level,” Draper said. Draper is an assistant track and field coach under Head Coach Sarah Thrall at USF.
