EXANDER MILLER, 81

EXANDER MILLER, 81, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, February 19, 2009, at St. Joseph Hospital. Born April 27, 1927, in Fort Wayne, he was a 1945 graduate of South Side High School and attended Purdue University. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from the U.S. Post Office as Manager of Safety after 44 years of service, in 1988. He was Wayne Township Fire Department Chief. He was also a volunteer for 30 years and the Fire Prevention Chief; charter member of Fire, Arson & Specialized Team and member of SW Fire Department. He was also a member of Calvary 3rd United Presbyterian Church; 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 739; Scottish Rite, Waynedale Eastern Star 600; 50-year member of American Legion 241; 50-year member of I.O.O.F.; adult leader for Troop 44/BSA; National Safety Council and Indiana BMV driving instructor and American Red Cross CPR instructor for 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Doris I. Miller of Fort Wayne; sons, Charles Allen (Jeri) Miller of Yoder, Donald James (Terry) Miller of Hoffman Estates, Illinois and Daniel Hall Miller of Bloomington, Indiana; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Elroy Miller, in 1997.

Service was Wednesday, February 25 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road. Visitation was Tuesday, February 24 at the funeral home, with Eastern Star service and Masonic service to following.

Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Preferred memorials to Calvary 3rd United Presbyterian Church.
