WILLIAM DAVIS, 85, of Leesburg, died Sunday, January 18, 2009, at his residence. Born January 13, 1924, in Albion, he was the son of Cary A. and Ann (Mazure) Davis. He lived in Warsaw from 1959 to 1969. He married Patricia Buck on May 24, 1952, in Greenhill, Indiana. He was a teacher and coach in Albion; Principal for Montpelier schools, Warsaw schools and retired from Wayne High School, Fort Wayne, in 1985. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Warsaw; was a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II; and graduated from Purdue University in 1950.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Davis of Leesburg; sons, Mark (Linda) Davis of Fort Wayne, Jonathan Davis of New Albany and Scott (Amy) Davis of Fort Wayne; brother, Roy (Maxine) Davis of St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Wilma Glendening of Naples, Florida; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral service was Thursday, January 22 at First United Methodist Church, Warsaw. Pastor David Heim officiating.
Calling was Wednesday, January 21 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Committal service was Thursday at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
