MERL MELVIN LECHLITNER SR. AGE 90

MERL MELVIN LECHLITNER SR. age 90 of Mishawaka died at 2:36 a.m. on Sunday, January 04, 2009 at the home of his grandson, Glen and Dawn Lechlitner of rural Williamsport.

Merl was born on September 4, 1918. He was the son of Jasper and Dora Walker Lechlitner. He was a 1936 graduate of Bristol High School and was a Mishawaka resident for most of his life.

On February 2, 1942 he married Thelma Louise Whybrew. She preceded him in death 1976. He married Rosaline Hixenbaugh on April 3, 1977. She survives.

Merl had worked for over thirty years as a tool and die maker for Penz Tool & Die in Mishawaka. He was a member of the Mishawaka Pilots Club. Merl enjoyed rock hounding and jewelry making. Any craft he was interested in he would do it.

Surviving with his wife, Rosaline are, his son Gale Louis Lechlitner of Niles, Michigan, his two daughters Marla Dorene Bateson and Adelaid Toka Blume, three stepsons John Hixenbaugh, Joseph Hixenbaugh, and Jules Hixenbaugh, 12 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 step-great-grandchild.

Per Merl’s wishes cremation was done and a scattering of ashes will happen at a later date. Grady Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.gradyfuneralhome .com.
