KEITH PORTER BAUGHMAN, 90
KEITH PORTER BAUGHMAN, 90, of Fort Wayne, died peacefully Tuesday, December 18, 2007.
“He was the beloved husband, father, and grandfather.”
He was a graduate of Pioneer High School, Pioneer, Ohio, and of International Business College, Fort Wayne. He was a member of Waynedale United Methodist Church for over 50 years and a 32nd Degree Mason of the Masonic Lodge, Huntertown. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II where he served in the Pacific Theater. He had a long and distinguished career as a businessman in Fort Wayne. He began as an office boy with Frank Welch Advertising and rose to the rank of vice president. In 1959, he began a second career in real estate from which he retired in the 1990s.
Throughout his career he was known for his honesty, integrity, and his jovial sense of humor. “Dad faithfully made daily visits to his wife, Sue who resides in Renaissance Nursing Home. He never knew a stranger and was benevolent to all.”
Born in Salem, Indiana, he was the son of the late Leroy Glenn and Gay Denzil Krugh Baughman. He married J. Sue Patterson on October 23, 1944, in Atlanta, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Patricia S. (John) Phenicie of Fort Wayne; a son, Dr. James Baughman of Louisville, Kentucky; a granddaughter, Joy Phenicie (Gary) Aldridge of Fort Wayne; and a grandson, Jesse Alexander Baughman of Paris, France.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bernard, Dean and A. D.; and sisters, Thelma Mumaw and Madelyn Arnold.
Memorial service was 11 a.m. Friday at Waynedale United Methodist Church, where the family received friends from 10 a.m. until time of service.
