Marissa Hetrick was born 10 weeks early, arriving on October 28, 2003, weighing only 2 pounds and 12 ounces. She is the daughter of Chad and Maryann Hetrick, and sister of Courtney Clinger. Marissa spent the first 75 days of her life in NICU. She has been diagnosed with Smith-Magenis Syndrome (very rare) and with Cerebral Palsy, and needed heart surgery. She is blind, cannot walk, talk, or sit up on her own, and suffers from seizures and severe Scoliosis. She is in a wheelchair and receives all of her food and nutrition from a feeding tube.

Her family has accumulated numerous medical bills and they must travel frequently to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis for doctor appointments and hospital visits. They are also in need of a new handicap accessible van and ramp for taking her to appointments.

Her grandparents are Jim and Suzanne Jackson, Joan Ensley and deceased grandparents, Bob Hetrick & Howard Ensley.
