Jeff, Alan & Clem Dreyfus signed the paperwork, Friday, July 14, 2006. They are now officially the new owners of Village Bowl in Quimby Village.

Jeff has made Village Bowl a family owned and operated business. His father, Clem and his brother Alan will both work with him on this new venture. Jeff’s father came to Fort Wayne in 1966 from Monroe, Michigan. He worked for Essex in corporate financing, retiring in 2003 as Vice President Controller for United Technologies. Jeff’s brother Alan has been involved in bowling all his life and has accumulated, pro-shop experience since 1978. Jeff mentioned that Alan may be the only person in Fort Wayne to bowl a 700 series both right and left handed. The Dreyfus family will re-open the Village Bowl Pro-Shop and utilize past experience to make it the best in the area.

The new pro-shop will be just one of the changes. Jeff plans on re-naming the Stage Door Lounge (new name not yet available) and making it more accessible to the local area. He hopes to add a lunch menu and provide carryout and delivery service to the many residents and businesses on the southwest side.

Jeff began bowling at ten. He attended Northrop High School, and worked at Georgetown Bowl as a porter. Jeff attended IPFW and worked on his bowling until he was ready for the Pro-Bowlers Tour in 1986. After 12 years on the tour he managed the pro-shop at Georgetown Bowl. He started managing Village Bowl in 2001 and when the owners, Vic Sockrider and Dave Kerschner decided to sell, Jeff started working on a way to come up with the financing. Jeff said, “It has been a roller coaster ride for the past year.

There was another group of people trying to purchase the 26-lane facility and negotiations were complex and nerve racking.”

Jeff, his father, Clem and his brother Alan are excited about finally agreeing on a package deal that was great for everyone involved.

Now comes the sprucing up, cleaning and painting as well as adding staff to fulfill the needs of an ever growing group of local bowlers. Village Bowl offers specials to group parties and caters to all age groups. The fall leagues start before Labor Day and the league openings are filling up fast. It doesn’t matter whether you are an individual or a team, young or old, they have leagues for everyone.
