VIOLA LaVERNE MAHNENSMITH FITCH, 103, of Fort Wayne, died Sunday, February 5, 2006, at Heritage Park Nursing Home, Fort Wayne. Born March 31, 1902, in Ossian, she was a School Teacher for Ossian Elementary School for 12 years and had taught for over 40 years total. She was a member of A.A.U.W., Fort Wayne Women’s Club, and Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority; and was a charter member of Memorial Baptist Church.
Surviving are her son, Dr. Victor K. Fitch of Fort Wayne; daughter, Rosalie R. DeWitt of Tucson, Arizona; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Forrest R. Fitch, in 1975; and son, Linwood R. Fitch.
Funeral service was Saturday February 10, at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne. Burial in Huntertown Cemetery.
