A Schlachtfest in Germany is the traditional celebration after the slaughter of a farm animal. The purpose is tohonor the animal. “Although we do not slaughter an animal”, says Herman Quake (photo right), “we do make our own bratwurst, sauerkraut and potato salad for the feast.” The event will be held at the beautiful Park Edelweiss, 3355 Elmhurst Drive, Waynedale. This is the home of the Fort Wayne Maennerchor and Damenchor and the German Heritage Society.

After the delicious German meal guests may enjoy and dance to the music of the ‘Haus Kapelle’ a German band made up of members of the chorus. The house band will play German and American music until midnight.
