“TALK TO LAWYER TODAY”

INDIANA STATE BAR OFFERS FREE LEGAL ASSISTANCE

State Bar sponsors “Talk To A Lawyer Today” on January 19, 2003 in recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  The Indiana State Bar Association (ISBA), in cooperation with various groups around the state, will sponsor a program that offers free legal assistance to the citizens of Indiana.  “Talk To A Lawyer Today” features volunteer attorneys answering legal questions free of charge both in-person and over the phone on the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Hoosiers living in the Fort Wayne area can get their legal questions answered on January 19, 2003 by going to the Volunteer Lawyer Program, 904 S. Calhoun Street from 9am to 5pm.  Those who cannot visit this walk-in location can receive assistance by calling 260-407-0917 that day.  Legal assistance from attorneys fluent in Spanish is available by calling 1-800-869-0212 from 9am to 5pm.

This is the second year for the “Talk To A Lawyer Today” program.  Last year more than 1,100 legal questions were answered in one day by volunteer attorneys across Indiana.  In Fort Wayne alone, more than 100 questions were answered.

“Attorneys continually seek ways to make the judicial system and the law less intimidating for Indiana’s citizens.  This program is an excellent opportunity for ISBA members to educate the community on the law and for the public to get answers to their legal questions,” Sherrill Wm. Colvin, ISBA president and an attorney from Fort Wayne, Indiana said.  For more information, please visit www.inbar.org or call the ISBA at 1-800-266-2581.
