RENDEZVOUS
Where: SouthWest Conservation Club, 5703 Bluffton Road, Waynedale, IN
When: October 11 & 12, 2003
Who: All Buckskinners, Trappers, Traders, Indians, and Craftsman are invited
This Rendezvous is being held on the beautiful grounds of the SouthWest Conservation Club and the front yard of the historic Chief Richardville House in southwest Fort Wayne, Indiana
Planned: Blackpowder Shoot, Hawk & Knife Throw, Bow Shoot, Women’s Skillet Toss, plus a Wooden Horse
Race and Scavenger Hunt for the youngin’s and many more activities, to include a counsel fire on Saturday night. This is a pre-1840 Re-enactment with all events for camper participation only, public is welcome to observe and ask questions
There will be a primitive church service on Sunday morning. Singing and Preaching being done by “Preacher Mike” Kaufman from the Fort Defiance Way. Everyone is invited. This is a family oriented function. Lots of fun things to see and do. This event is open to the public Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm and it is FREE.

FREE CONEY DOG WITH FOOD DONATION FOR COMMUNITY HARVEST FOOD BANK
Loco-n-Motion Subs and Sandwiches, a locally owned business, is conducting a special food drive for Community Harvest Food Bank. Diners will receive a free Coney Dog when they bring in non-perishable food between August 21 and September 1. Loco-n-Motion is located at 2801 Lower Huntington Road and their hours are Monday-Friday, 11am to 5pm.

 

THE ANNUAL HOAGLAND EMS DINNER DANCE
Saturday, September 6, 2003 the doors will open at 4pm at Hoffman’s Barn, 14607 Houk Road. The fee is $15 per person! As always, ALL proceeds go to the new equipment fund. NEWS FROM AVALON MISSIONARY CHURCH
Avalon Missionary Church’s Deaconesses and Mentoring Moms invite all area women 16 and older to attend an inspirational and informative meeting on Thursday, September 25, 2003 at Avalon Missionary Church’s Family Life Center at 7pm. The Family Life Center is located on the corner of Lower Huntington Road and the Airport Expressway.
The featured speaker will be Dr. Angela LaSalle, who also serves as medical consultant for Mentoring Moms, and Avalon Missionary Church ministry. Her topic will be “Spiritual Healing after a Stressful Event” and there will be opportunity for a question and answer time. Light refreshments will be served.

THREE RIVERS CROCHET GUILD
Our next meeting will be held on Sept. 8th at Michael’s in the Jefferson Pointe Shopping Center.‑ We encourage people at all levels of ability to crochet, from brand new beginners to the very skilled.‑ We enjoy each other’s company and share what we know with each other.‑ We meet from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. the second Monday of each month, so if you are unable to attend this meeting, you can figure out when we meet the next time.

 

AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION 2003 AMERICAN HEART WALK

BEN EZRA GROUP
First Presbyterian Church, 300 West Wayne Street, Fort Wayne, offers a program of fellowship and cards each Wednesday from 9:30am to 3pm – September through May. 9th ANNUAL LEIGHANN PALMER FOUNDATION GOLF OUTING – SEPTEMBER 7, 2003
Proceeds go to the scholarship fund in remembrance of Leigh AnnPalmer; one scholarship to a Bishop Luers Senior Cheerleader going to college and one scholarship to an 8th grade girl at St. Therese going to Bishop Luers. Mo Korte was the recipient for the Bishop Luers scholarship and Sarah Freiburger was the St. Therese scholarship winner. Proceeds also go to various charitable organizations that benefit children. The golf outing will be a double shotgun Florida scramble at Grey Goose Golf Course. WAYNEDALE NUDISTS TO MEET
The next Waynedale Nudist Club – TANNIN’ BOTTOM – meeting will be on Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at 5:38pm. The theme for this meeting is, “Hot Chicken Soup For The Nudists’ Soul.” The topic of discussion will be, “Your Refrigerator as a First Aid Kit.” Please bring a pot of your homemade chicken soup to share. We’ll vote on the winner. Servers are again asked to wear aprons! Sam and Sally will furnish cool drinks and desserts. Remember the Cool Whip desserts and great margaritas they are famous for? Please cover any obscene tattoos you may have – thanks.
Ed and Mark from the Waynewood Inn, 8421 Bluffton Road has offered our group the use of the large room in back of their restaurant for our meetings. They cautioned us on the use of their sliding doors. They said that on occasion they may pinch and create blood blisters in inappropriate places. Thanks Ed and Mark; we’ll bring it up at our next board meeting.

WAYNEDALE PRESCHOOL BEGINS FALL CLASSES
The Weekday Preschool educational program of the Waynedale United Methodist Church located at 2501 Church Street will begin on September 4th. The school has been serving the Waynedale area since 1961. The program offers opportunities for development through social group play language development, introduction to academics, chapel time, music, games, stories, puppets, creative activities, movement education, and outside play.

SALAMONIE SENIORS’ EVENT IS TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE
The 2003 Salamonie Seniors’ Fall Fest is September 9-11, 2003 in the Modern Campground in Lost Bridge West. The three-day event is designed for retired people age 50 and over. The 2003 theme is: History in the Making. Seniors will pay this fee at the property gate with their entrance fee and use one program pass for all of the week’s events. SCOTTISH RITE 2ND ANNUAL PURDUE VARSITY GLEE CLUB CONCERT & FISH FRY
The Scottish Rite Center once again welcomes the internationally-renowned Purdue Varsity Glee Club in concert on Friday, October 10, 2003 at 7:30pm. A fish fry dinner will be served starting at 7pm prior to the concert. All proceeds benefit the Fort Wayne Masonic Learning Center for Children, which offers free tutoring services to children with dyslexia. Tickets for the concert and fish fry are $25 per person. ANNUAL FALL FESTIVAL
St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road will have their annual Fall Festival on Saturday, September 6, 2003 from 10am to 4pm on the parish grounds. Events include: Kid’s Games, Live Auction, Bake Sale, Bingo, Beer Tent, and lots of your favorite food items like cotton candy and funnel cakes. We will have a cash raffle and we will be selling chances to win an “Authentic Italian Dinner” for 8, prepared by our pastor, Fr. Joe Rulli. SINGING AUCTIONEER IN CONCERT
Dane Bailey, “The Singing Auctioneer”, will be in concert at Nine Mile United Methodist Church, 6303 Winters Road on Sunday, September 14, 2003 at 10am. Dane is a native of Berne and now from Fort Wayne brings a rich history of music and ministry. He has traveled for over 28 years throughout the Midwest singing at churches, campgrounds, banquets, fairs, and on radio and television. With his smooth style of singing and broad selection of music, you will want to sit back, relax, and soak it all in. Dane has four recordings available. “In His Time”, “Touch of The Master’s Hand,” the old violin song, a concert video by the same name produced by the Eddie Crook Co., and a new project, “One More Time” just released on the Counterpoint Group label.
