FORT WAYNE AVIATION MUSEUM TOURS (AT THE FORT WAYNE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT)
Adults and families will enjoy new evening tours of the Fort Wayne International Airport terminal and Fort Wayne Aviation Museum. This in-depth tour for aviation buffs will be led by the museum curator and is a great opportunity to celebrate 2003 “Centennial of Flight”. Tours start at 7pm. Registrations are required. Tours and parking are free. Bring your parking permit for validation. Spring dates: March 18 & 25, April 15, & 29, May 13 & 27. Call 747-4146, ext. 270 for your reservation. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Community volunteers are needed to help with the 18th annual Brown Bag Lunch on Thursday, March 20, 2003, which benefits the Daybreak Children’s Shelter. Volunteers are needed to work as food SERVERS and delivery DRIVERS from 10am to 1pm. From the headquarters at Simpson United Methodist Church, 2000 prepared lunches will be delivered to Fort Wayne area businesses in time for lunch. The food is donated by Casa D’Angelo Restaurant and the work is done by staff and volunteers. Community support guarantees success! AARP TAX-AIDE PROGRAM
The AARP Tax-Aide Program provides free tax assistance in the preparation of the federal and state income tax returns to middle and low-income taxpayers, with special attention to those 60 and older. With the library construction projects in process we have been forced to move the Main Library site to Little Turtle and the Shawnee site to Waynedale Library. We urge those seeking tax assistance to bring their last years tax return, their county real estate tax paid receipts and all 2002 Tax forms (W-2, 1099R, 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, W2G, SSA-1099, etc.) For further information, please contact Virgil Gerard at 747-3256 or Bill Knorr at 486-5654.

GERANIUM & BASKETS SALE
Allen County 4-H Clubs are sponsoring a Geranium & Hanging Baskets Fund Raiser. Each 4-inch potted geranium will cost $1. Colors offered this year include, Red, Salmon, White, Pink, and Fuchsia. Hanging baskets available are Boston Fern; Purple Wave Petunia, Lilac Wave Petunia, Pink Wave Petunia; Non-Vining Geranium Baskets in Pink, Salmon, Red, & Fuchsia; and Ivy Geraniums in Red or Pink. All hanging baskets are $10 for a 10″ basket. Orders must be placed and paid for by March 28 – order early. The geraniums and hanging baskets will be available for pickup at the Allen County Fairgrounds, Lions Barn on Saturday, May 3 from 9am to 5pm. DAFFODIL DAYS COMING
Businesses and community members are asked to help support local cancer prevention detection and patient service programs by participating the American Cancer Society’s annual Daffodil Days fundraiser. The Society is selling fresh-cut daffodils to businesses throughout the area and will deliver the flowers free of charge. The daffodils are sold for $7 per bunch of ten or as an arrangement for $15, 1/4 case (12 bunches) for $60, 1/2 case (25 bunches) for $120 or a full case (50 bunches) for $200. Presale daffodil orders will be delivered on March 20 and 21. The money raided during Daffodil Days helps provide patient service programs, such as Road to Recovery, Look Good…Feel Better and Tell a Friend. LIVING ON LESS INCOME
The United States continues to see a downturn in the economy and families are facing challenging financial situations. Continual company buyouts, downsizing, and closures place a real strain on family finances. Families can work together to make it through these times. Resources are available from the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service to assist with this time of change. Publication topics include When Your Income Drops, Managing Your Credit, and Talking to Your Family. MT. CALVARY LUTHERAN PRESCHOOL REGISTERS FOR CLASS
Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool at 1819 Reservation Drive across from Miami Middle School in Waynedale is now registering for classes for the 2003-2004 school year. Classes for 2 & 3 year olds meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9-11:30am
Classes for 4 year olds meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9-11:30am
Classes for 4-5 year olds meet Monday through Thursday afternoons from 12:30-3pm.

MARRIAGE SEMINAR
The marriage seminar “Why Marriages Succeed or Fail” is being sponsored by the Living Faith Missionary Church, 17718 S.R. 1, Yoder, Indiana from Friday through Sunday, March 14-16, 2003. Marriage and Parenting Solutions (M.A.P.S.) is designed to help meet emotional needs of individuals by providing opportunities to develop and improve skills dealing with issues of marriage and parenting. A survey of those who have participated in this seminar has found that six months afterwards, 72% had an increase in marital satisfaction. Friday and Saturday sessions will be at 7pm and Sunday sessions will be at 10:30am and at 6pm. The church is providing this opportunity free of charge to anyone who wishes to participate. WINDSONG PICTURES PRESENTS: “IN SILENCE”
This is a powerful award winning motion picture with a message of hope for mankind. It will be presented on Sunday, March 16, 2003 at Elmhurst Theater corner of Ardmore and Sandpoint Roads at 2pm. There is no admission charge.

 

5TH ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE
Curves, 30 Minute Fitness and Weight Loss Center in Wayne Plaza will be joining the Curves International Inc. “Food For Friends” food drive to benefit local Food Bank at St. Therese. Anyone joining Curves the week of March 17, 2003 may bring a bag of groceries and have the normal service fee waived. Anyone may drop off non-perishable food items at Curves Monday through Friday during business hours. Last year the food drive collected over 2,000,000 pounds of food. SCOUT GARAGE SALE
Donations needed for Portage Camp Association’s Annual Large Spring Garage Sale in our town of Waynedale. This gives you a chance to get rid of some of that old stuff you don’t use anymore. Check your shed, garage, house, closet, barn, and yard. Anything that you don’t need that’s sellable we will take. Trailers, cars with titles, boats, bikes, toys, clothes, household items, anything and everything that is in good condition we will take. We at Portage Creek Camp Association sponsors the Boy Scout Troop #44 and Cub Scout Pack #3044 and we will come to your house to pick up donations, or if you like you can bring them to the Scout Cabin at Lower Huntington and Ardmore.
