Kristi O’Brien, a 7th grader at St. Therese Catholic School is a regular participant in the Ft. Wayne Parks and Recreation Jr. Golf Program, which was featured in the July 24th edition of The Waynedale News. Kristi won the Tour Championship at Foster Park Golf Course. Kristi’s 102 total edged out Angola’s Jordan Essman by three shots. Then, at seasons end festivities, Kristi was named the ‘Grand Prix’ player of the year for the 12-year-old division! Kristi started golfing at age 5 with her family on an occasional basis. Then she started playing competitively in local PeeWee 3-hole tournaments at 7 years of age. Since that time Kristi has amassed over 30 trophies and plaques! In two years Kristi intends on playing for Bishop Luers, following in the footsteps of three older brothers, Bobby, Bret, and Rich O’Brien. Rich was the IHSAA regional golf champion in his sophomore year.
