ST. ALOYSIUS HOSTS ANNUAL SUMMERFEST
St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Yoder, will host its annual Summerfest on Saturday, Aug. 10, and Sunday, August 11. Summerfest is an annual parish fund-raiser and includes activities for all ages.
New this year will be a round and square dance on Saturday featuring Heartland II from 7 to 10 p.m. in the parish activity center. Cost of the dance is $5 per person or $15 per family. Snacks and beverages will be available.
The festival events begin Saturday morning at 7 a.m. with a softball tournament and 5k run.
Also returning is a horseshoe tournament.
The Saturday schedule also includes a hog roast beginning at 11 a.m.
An outdoor Mass will be celebrated under the tent at 5:30 p.m. Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. and the parish choir will sing a prelude selections of “unplugged” acoustic music before Mass.
The euchre tournament follows at 7 p.m.
Sunday events will include the broasted chicken dinner from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parish hall. The dinner will include two pieces of broasted chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, noodles, green beans, a roll and butter, applesauce, dessert and drink. Cost for the dinner is $6.50 for adults, $3.50 for children 5 to 12 years old, and free to children 4 and under.
Other Sunday activities will include bingo from 12 noon to 6 p.m. and the raffle drawing at 6 p.m. Prizes are $1,000, $250, two $100, four $50 and four $25 prizes. Tickets are available from parish members or both days at the festival. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.
Both days include the parish-wide garage sale, softball tournament, games for children, teens and adults, a country and craft store, ice cream, sandwich and beverage booths.
