64TH ANNUAL FIREMAN’S FESTIVAL

A LETTER FROM THE POE, INDIANA VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT

Dear Friends,

On August 23 and 24, 2002, the Poe Volunteer Fire Department will be holding their 64th Annual Fireman’s Festival. This is our main fund-raiser for the year. We turn to fund-raising to help cover the increasing costs of training and operations. Our funds are acquired by township contracts, donations, and fund-raisers.

This year the department is replacing its 1985 Ford ambulance with a 2002 Braun ambulance at a cost of $105,000. In order to defray our operating costs we are seeking your support. The festival consists of continuous events of food, beer, bingo, craft tent, and children’s games. We also have an auction on Friday night. On Saturday, we have a Chicken BBQ dinner, kiddie tractor pull, entertainment, and a free dance featuring the country band HIGH NOON. There are also waterball, volleyball, and euchre tournaments. We hope to draw a large crowd with these activities. We find that many people come to see old friends and renew memories as well as support the fire department

We are asking for donations for our benefit auction, which is held on August 23. Auction items: new merchandise, gift certificates for services, meals, savings bonds, carpeting, etc. This list goes on and on. We are contacting you in hopes of being able to compile a sale bill listing all items. We realize some companies need lead time to contact their corporate offices.

If you feel you do not have items or services suitable for the auction, please consider sponsorship of one of the above events. The sponsorship would help defray the costs of the festival. Please call 639-3992 with any questions you may have regarding the festival, donation or sponsorship. Receipts for donations available upon request. Many in and around the community have donated generously in the past. We thank you for your continued support.

Signed,

The Poe Volunteer Fire Department and Festival Committee
