FROM THE COMMANDER POST #296 -Lawrence “Larry” Thiele, Commander
Veterans who went or were called to defend their country before graduation from high school are allowed to apply for and receive a regular diploma in the State of Indiana. Ben GiaQuinta, State Representative and a member of Post 296, was the main sponsor of this Bill passed by the State Legislature. Ben is a very good person who represents veterans in many ways. He relays information that veterans need to know, like the POW/MIA flags fly over the 35 rest areas in Indiana. We should thank Ben GiaQuinta for a job well done whenever we can.
My first year as Commander is complete. The installation of officers and board members on June 22nd will start a new year. A big thanks to my wife, Helen, and the Auxiliary, the S.A.L., all of our employees, and our membership for a very good year. Thank you very much. The Mother’s Day Dinner was well-attended and appreciated by everyone who attended. Thanks to S.A.L. and all of the volunteers and employees for your work in making our mothers have a special day. A big thanks to the officers and board members for a good year. Your cooperation and understanding of things to be done for the good of the Post have made for a successful year.
