ZIMMER EMPLOYEES DONATE TO SCOUTS
Sue Lewis, a resident of Leesburg, Indiana and an employee of Zimmer Corporation in Warsaw, Indiana, recently donated a used rear engine driven Snapper riding lawn mower to Portage Creek Camp Association. PCCA, a not-for-profit organization, is the sponsoring organization of Boy Scout Troop 44 and owner of the Waynedale Scout Cabin at the corner of Lower Huntington Road and Ardmore Avenue.
The lawn mower was repaired, tuned-up, and delivered by Michael McCune, also an employee of Zimmer Corporation. Mike is a former Boy Scout in Troop 44 where he earned his Eagle badge in 1989. He went on to spend three enlistments in the Air Force before joining Zimmer Corp. Mike agreed to deliver the mower and to keep the mower tuned up and in running condition as his contribution to the troop.
Thank you Sue and Mike. Zimmer Corporation is to be congratulated for hiring such caring, giving, and unselfish individuals. A big Boy Scout Round Of Applause to all of you and thank you so very much. Walt Pressler, President of Portage Creek Camp Association said, “Up until now, the large field at the Scout Cabin has been mowed with various assorted hand-me-down, garage sale reject, or donated-fixed-up-junk hand mowers. Now the adults can keep the grass mowed with a lot less effort and time. The Scouts will have a nice manicured area for doing their Scouting activities.”
Anyone interested in joining/helping Portage Creek Camp Association or joining Boy Scout Troop 44, please contact Walt Pressler at 436-9462, Jack Shepard at 436-2422, or Ray McCune at 747-6512. If you are interested in helping or joining Girl Scout Troop 850, please call Mary Shepard at 436-2422.
