NEWS FROM POST 296
AUXILLARY Post 296 will be hosting a self-defense and home safety demonstration on April 27 at lpm. Parker Shelton (7th degree black belt, former world rated contender, and a member of “Who’s Who” in martial arts), Duane DuMont (of Post 296, a black belt in 2 styles as well as National champion in l992), and Tom Brown (of Bryan Ohio, Post 284, a brown belt), will all be presenting the demonstration. All 3 men are presently providing self defense instruction for EMTs.
The home safety portion of the meeting will be by Eric Balliet of the Allen County Police Reserve. The meeting is not only how to defend yourself, but how to be aware of what can be a dangerous situation.
June 9, the Ladies Auxiliary will also be sponsoring an early Fathers Day dinner. The dinner will be “family style.” Watch for further information on the dinner. Both the self-defense demo and the Fathers Day dinner are open to the public.

KOREAN WAR VETERANS ASSOCIATION NEWS
The monthly meeting of the KWVA, Indiana Chapter One will be held on April 13, 2002 at the American Legion Post 82 on Harris Road. Breakfast will be at 7:30am; the meeting will begin at 9am. Call Allen Clendenen (260-489-1724) for information about placing a brick on our walkway at our beautiful Shrine on O’Day Road, honoring a special Veteran. What a great tribute for Fathers Day.
You still have time to contact Jim Snyder (260-484-9255) before school is out to have our Veterans come to your child’s or grandchild’s school and present our Tele-America program. It is a wonderful program about the Korean War and why it is no longer the Forgotten War.
