Cub Scout Pack 3352, sponsored by Pleasant Center Elementary School, Corner of Bluffton Road and Pleasant Center Road, recently asked Doni Adam, a member of Fort Wayne Art Source, if their Wolf and Bear Dens could visit the Art Gallery to work on earning their Scouting Academic Art Pin and Belt Loop. Doni’s answer? ” . . . of course they could; we would be delighted!”

It was a very enthusiastic group of 12 boys that showed up for instructions. The Scouts studied ‘primary colors’, mixed ‘secondary colors’, and painted a picture from their color mixes. Each one drew a self-portrait, transferred it to an 8″ X 10″ canvas board, and then painted it. Each of them created a card using stencils but all agreed that painting a polymer clay sculptor was undoubtedly the most fun. The boys also designed a book cover using the line art of Claudia Nice, an international line artist. The boys enjoyed studying her books.

The public may view Cub Pack 3352’s exhibit of their artwork in the Education Wing of the Fort Wayne Art Source, 2812 Lower Huntington Road during normal gallery hours. Doni Adam, who is also grandmother to two of the Scouts, said, “It is amazing how creative little 7, 8, 9, and 10 year old boys can be when given the opportunity to play with colors, shapes, lines, and paint.” The Fort Wayne Art Source said they were delighted to share this rare opportunity to help develop the creative side of some great little guys from Pack 3352. For more information on Fort Wayne Art Source’s hours of operation, see the COMMUNITY CALENDAR.

Cub Scout Pack 3352 meets every Tuesday night at 7pm at Pleasant Center School. Mark Reichle will be taking over as Cubmaster and Andy Dukarski will become Assistant Cubmaster starting next fall according to Doni. For more information on the Cub Pack, call the Scout office at 432-9593.
