UNITED ART AND EDUCATION CELEBRATES EDUCATORS’ HARD WORK

“I wish I could be a teacher so I could get the whole summer off!” How often have you heard that phrase, or a variation of it? While most educators do get a break during the summer, more often than not they put in many, many extra hours while school is in session. Many educators seem to have a never-ending supply of papers to grade, lessons to prepare and tests to create—their students aren’t the only ones with homework.

As another school-year approaches, local teacher supply retailer, United Art and Education, will be celebrating the dedicated efforts of area educators during its 19th Annual Teacher Appreciation Days, July 18th through August 31st.

“A teacher’s work is never done. Many assume a teacher only works 8-3, which is only the actual time they spend with the children they are teaching. What people don’t think about is all the prep work that goes into the time they spend with the children preparing the day’s lesson plans,” said Brian Deaton, retail operations manager at United Art and Education. “Another thing that gets overlooked is the amount of time they spend after school grading papers, attending parent teacher conferences and much more. Many people take a teacher’s time for granted, but at United Art and Education we appreciate everything they do to help build a brighter future for the children.”

Dodi Gunaward-hana, retail operations manager, agrees with Deaton. “I am very sympathetic, and appreciative, of the time and money that educators give to our children. I’m so grateful for everything they do, both in and outside of the classroom. It’s a comment too often heard that the purchases they are making are coming directly out of their pocket.”

To show appreciation for educators’ hard work, United Art and Education will give away hundreds of dollars in gift certificates and other educational prizes at each store location during the Teacher Appreciation Days event.

This year’s celebration kicks off with Scratch ‘N Win game pieces. Starting at 9 a.m. on July 18th, the first 325 customers at each location will have a chance to play the Scratch ‘N Win Game. Game pieces offer terrific prizes, such as $5, $10 and $20 gift certificates, T-shirts, denim totes and more! There is no purchase necessary to play, and every piece is a winner!

To help teachers keep organized during the school year, United Art and Education will also be giving away a free school-year desk calendar to the first 2000 customers. Plus, customers can take advantage of extra savings during the store’s Double Bonus Coupon event, which offers twice the savings on classroom decorations, teacher resource books and back-to-school favorites on July 18th from 9 a.m. to noon. Additional Bonus Coupons are offered online at www.UnitedNow.com and can be used during the Double Bonus Coupon event.

Educators will also have the opportunity to add an extra $500 worth of supplies to their classroom by signing up for United Art and Education’s Gift Card Give-Away. Two customers company wide will each win a $500 Grand Prize. Two customers per store will each win a $200 1st Prize (20 in all). Educators can enter at their nearest store. One $200 1st Prize will also be given away online.
