LANGLEY’S CELEBRATE 65TH ANNIVERSARY

They were high school sweethearts, graduating from Leo High School in the class of 1939 where Dorothy was co-salutatorian. They were married August 17, 1941 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne.
The Langley’s are the parents of Barbara Fischer of Fort Wayne, Walter Langley Jr. of Fort Wayne and Patricia Lautzenheiser of Decatur. They have eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Walter worked at General Electric before World War II. He served in England for 30 months in the Army Air Corps. After his service, he became a journeyman carpenter, and worked for 19 years as a finish carpenter. They thereafter worked at Fort Wayne Community Schools for 18½ years. Dorothy was a homemaker while the children were growing up and then served as a teachers aid for 16 ½ years at Croninger.
Dorothy and Walter began their volunteer career in 1967 by entertaining hospitalized veterans with square dancing. They graduated in 1967 from a western square dance class and for many years were members of the Promenaders Square Dance Club. They have traveled all over the country dancing. Also, they have attended 6 Elderhostels around the country.
The two still enjoy gardening, reading, and watching old movies together.
