U. S. AIR FORCE THUNDERBIRDS ARE COMING TO FORT WAYNE’S AIRSHOW

Fort Wayne Air Show, Inc., in partnership with the 122nd Fighter Wing and the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority, is proud to welcome America’s Ambassadors In Blue, the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, to the 2016 Fort Wayne Airshow. This world-renowned U.S. Air Force Demonstration Squadron recently announced their intention to perform in Fort Wayne on September 10-11, 2016.

Landing a premier team such as the Thunderbirds is the result of months of planning and work beginning in August of this past year. Col. Patrick R. Renwick, Commander of the 122nd Fighter Wing, said, “The Airmen of the 122nd Fighter Wing enjoy great support from the greater Fort Wayne area and we are excited to partner with the community to showcase the Thunderbirds. We all look forward to an outstanding Air Show next year!” The 2012 airshow brought more than 84,000 spectators to the Fort Wayne Air National Guard Base. With the U.S. Air Force’s premier demonstration team performing, the 2016 airshow could attract many more.

Based at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, 325 officers have worn the distinguished emblem of “America’s Ambassadors in Blue.” More than 120 enlisted personnel, representing nearly 30 career fields, currently form the backbone of the Thunderbirds.

Together, the Thunderbirds have the privilege and responsibility to perform for people all around the world, displaying the pride, precision and professionalism of American Airmen. In every hour-long demonstration, the team combines years of training and experience with an attitude of excellence to showcase what the Air Force is all about.
