JAMES EUGENE GROVES, 76

JAMES EUGENE GROVES, 76JAMES EUGENE GROVES, 76, of Fort Wayne, was called home on Monday, October 24, 2011. He was born December 25, 1934 in Fort Wayne to the late Harold and Rosetta (Farrell) Groves. Mr. Groves was a man who loved his family, and was a student and teacher of the games of golf and gin rummy. He was a basketball enthusiast and enjoyed fishing and creating his own cooking recipes, he had several. Mr. Groves was a realtor for 10 years and was owner and operator of Groves Landscaping for 23 years. While residing in Sarasota for 16 years, he worked as property manager for Siesta Plaza.

At the age of 13 he was awarded the privilege to write a memorial message for veterans that was placed on the memorial rock that still sits in front of the Southwest Fire Station #1 in Waynedale.

Surviving family includes his devoted, loving wife of 56 years, Jacqueline (Osborne) Groves of Fort Wayne; daughters, Julie (Dr. John) Mohrman and Janet (Robert) Reed, both of Fort Wayne; son, Michael Groves of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren, Dr. Brittany, Allison, Madeline and Mitchell Mohrman; Rachel, Jackson, and Jameson Reed; and Nicolai and Cody Groves; sisters, Patricia Staker of North Webster, Rosalie (Bob) Boussum of Crystal Falls, Michigan, and Judith (Darwin) Wright of Fort Wayne; brother, Kenneth R. (Cathy) Groves of Fort Wayne; and nine nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant daughter JaneAnne.

Funeral service will be Friday, October 28, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, IN with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Visitation was on Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery.
