Doris Montag
Doris Montag of Iowa City, IA, is a new contributor to the Waynedale News expanding her reach into Indiana. Her column, The History of Ordinary Things, currently runs in Pennsylvania and Iowa/IL. Doris Montag is a homespun historian and an exhibit curator who researches and displays historical collections of ordinary things such as Can Openers, Crochet, Toy Sewing Machines, Hand Corn Planters, Powder Compacts, Egg Cartons and more.
Doris is a collector, a storyteller and a free-lance curator whose passion is unlocking the stories in collections from family or private individuals. She develops and installs exhibits in small museums, libraries, and public spaces. This work has evolved to One Woman Shows narrating the exhibits. Additionally, she researches and distills the history of antiques and random items. These comprise her column intended to educate and entertain readers.
