A BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR AN EASTER HUNT

The Annual Waynedale Easter Egg Hunt held on Saturday, April 15th at the Southwest Conservation Club was enjoyed by over 200 children. The event was sponsored by the Waynedale Community Improvement Team and organized by Beulah Matzak.

Beulah states, “Our appreciation goes out to the many generous area businesses who made donations and to our volunteers who helped make the event possible. Waynedale Community Improvement Team is pleased to be able to continue to bring opportunities for our residents to join in community events.”

Children were split into two groups determined by age. Among the 2,500 eggs filled by the Wayne High School Special Education class, there were two golden eggs in each category. Once found and redeemed, the eggs netted the lucky child an Easter Basket provided by Englewood Health and Rehab. Festive Easter bunny headbands were donated by Kingston Residence. Special surprise visitors included the Easter Bunny, The Midwest America FCU Cow mascot and Kingston the Lion who all spread smiles, hugs, high fives and photo opportunities throughout the crowd.

Prior to the start of the Easter Egg Hunt, winners of two 20” Rallye children’s bicycles were announced. Sponsor GMI Insurance began taking donations for the raffle on March 20th at the Kingston’s 9th Annual Taste of Waynedale. They continued throughout the month and the day of the hunt, collecting $219 in donations towards the Waynedale Trails and Sidewalks Initiative. Winners of the bikes were Pat Cummins and Laura Rohr. Agency Manager Kelli Richards said, “We were pleased to be involved in both events that support the Waynedale Community. Our goal with the bicycle raffle is to encourage Waynedale residents to get out and utilize the area trails.” The GMI Insurance office is located on Bluffton Road and will soon see new sidewalks under construction in front of their location.
