MARTHENA WARD, 92
MARTHENA WARD, 92, of Fort Wayne, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Kingston Residence. She was born September 16, 1923 in Fairmont, Indiana to the late John A. and Mae (Shugart) Painter. She worked as a secretary at Essex, retiring after 50 years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a member at Waynedale United Methodist Church where she also served as church secretary.
Surviving are her sister, Norma Jean (Nolan) Spence of Marion; sister in law, Lois Painter of Fairmount, IN; nieces and nephews, Jan P. (Jeff) Magner of Indianapolis, Kandi S. Augur of Westerville, Ohio, Reta (Barry) Boyer of Marion, Patsy A. (Mike) Kaisher of Columbus, IN, Zandra L. (Sam) Griffiths of Kissimmee, Florida, Gregory M. (Barbara) Rasmussen of Boyton Beach, FL, Michael (Margaret) Spence of Greentown, IN, and Linda (Steven) Moore of Chandler, Arizona.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Marabelle Rasmussen, Estelene Shroeder, Charles Painter, and John Painter; nephews, Randy Rasmussen and Lynn Rasmussen; and sister in law, Ruth Painter.
Funeral service was Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 11:30 AM at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46809 with visitation at 10 AM Saturday.
Burial in Gardens of Memories, Marion.
