ELMHURST LITTLE LEAGUE RECOGNIZED FOR IMPROVEMENTS
Representatives from the City of Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department, and Fort Wayne TinCaps made a visit to the Elmhurst Little League Mason Park on Mason Drive, Friday, July 15, 2016 as part of a recognition ceremony for the recent improvements completed at the baseball diamonds.
New green screens have enhanced the game experience for players, umpires and fans. In addition, batting cage screens and netting have been upgraded to make batting practice safer for players and coaches.
The project was a result of a partnership between the City and TinCaps through the Play Ball initiative, a joint effort between the United States Conference of Mayors, Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball.
Play Ball focuses on the fun nature of baseball and encourages widespread participation in related activities. Mayors across the country are implementing the initiative with the goal of strengthening the connection between communities and baseball.
Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry joined players with Elmhurst Little League at Mason Park to celebrate a successful season and improvements that were made to the baseball diamonds through the Play Ball initiative. The City of Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department, and the Fort Wayne TinCaps worked together to make the enhancements possible.
