ABOITE SOFTBALL LEAGUE CELEBRATES 41ST YEAR

Aboite Softball League pictureThe Aboite Softball League celebrated its 41st year this summer. The league was started by the Aboite River Women’s Club with the goals of softball skills, fun, teamwork and sportsmanship. The league this year, had 35 teams and over 425 girls between the ages of 5 and 18. There is also a women’s league for those 18 and older that play doubleheaders on Sunday nights.

The Aboite Softball League has been a parent-run, non-profit, unaffiliated slow-pitch recreational league since its inception. It is governed by an all-volunteer parent board. Monica Zwick is the current president and only the fifth person to serve in that capacity since 1976.

The league would like to thank all of their team sponsors as well as Barb Krisher of the Aboite Township Park District and the maintenance staff at Southwest Allen County Schools.

This summer, the team sponsored by Mercedes Benz of Fort Wayne won first place in regular season play and also in the double elimination tournament with a 19-1 record.
