VIRGINIA MAE BARKER, 90
VIRGINIA MAE BARKER, 90, of Fort Wayne, passed away May 31, 2016 at her residence. She was born September 6, 1925 in Indianapolis to the late Thomas Leonard and Crystal Alberta (Ammerman) Prosser. She retired from GTE in 1985, after 15 year as an Advertising Assistant. She also served as choir director at Faith Church of Christ. She was a master gardener and a charter member of Fort Wayne Herb Gardeners.
She is survived by her children, Suzanne (Lloyd – deceased) Miller of Tingley, Iowa, Karen (Ed) Ervin of Hagerstown, Indiana, Stephen (Ann) Kreiger and Douglas (Jodi) Kreiger, both of Fort Wayne; step daughter, Nancy Barker of Indianapolis; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; one niece; and special friend, Carol Leas of Fort Wayne.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Byron Kenneth Barker in 1995; brother, Donald Prosser; and sister, Margaret Leonard.
Funeral service was Monday, June 6, 2016 at 10 AM at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46809 with visitation 1 hour prior. Visitation also on Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 2 to 5 PM at the funeral home. Burial at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis at 2 PM Monday, June 6, 2016.
