ROONEY FAMILY ENTREPRENEURIAL SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCED
Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School held the essay contest for the annual Rooney Family Entrepreneurial Scholarship. Students submit their essays without their names on the essays on a selected topic, which varies from year to year. This year’s essay topic was “Is someone a born leader or can he/she be taught to be a leader? If you think it’s a skill that can be taught, what are the things a person can do to learn leadership?”
This year’s winners are Genevieve Cicchiello (5th grade), Alexis Miguel (6th grade), and Ben Hoffman and Jacob Schroeder (both 7th grade). The students won either a $500 or $1000 tuition scholarship.
Mr. Tim Rooney, a vice president at Stifel Investments who started the scholarship essay contest, said that he wants the students to reflect on the motivation and skills, such as seeking out opportunities that are essential to being effective entrepreneurs in the future.
