NEIGHBORS, VISITORS LINE THE STREETS! THE PARADE IS COMING!
The Waynedale Memorial Day Parade has been scheduled! With a blast of sirens and flashing lights from Fort Wayne’s finest Police and Fire Departments, the 2016 Waynedale Memorial Day Parade will begin its route at the Waynedale United Methodist Church, at the intersection of Old Trail Road and Church Street.
The date is 9am on Monday, May 30. MEMORIAL DAY!
All entries planning on participating in the parade, line up is 8am in the Waynedale United Methodist Church parking lot. The cost is free.
The parade is sponsored by American Legion Post #241, VFW Post #1421 and AM Vets Post #33.
Immediately following the parade there is a Military Service at the Prairie Grove Cemetery. Wayne High School band members will be performing the national anthem, “Taps” will be played, along with a presentation by local military officials honoring those we have lost.
Just as we can be quite proud of the crowds that gather on each side of Old Trail Road each year, we should stand proud of the heartfelt ceremony that follows in the cemetery where a wreath in honor of all veterans will be displayed.
Show your pride and enthusiasm for our GREAT USA! and Waynedale!
Wear your red, white and blue! Receive a flag from the American Legion and wave it!
