COATS CONGRATULATES HOMESTEAD HIGH SCHOOL’S ORMSBY ON ACCEPTANCE TO U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY
Senator Dan Coats (R-Ind.) recently congratulated Logan Ormsby of Fort Wayne on his acceptance into the United States Air Force Academy. Coats nominated Ormsby, a senior at Homestead High School, for an appointment to Colorado Springs.
“There is no higher calling for an American citizen than to wear the uniform of the United States Armed Forces,” said Coats. “I congratulate Logan on this distinguished honor and believe his talents and abilities will make him an outstanding cadet. I look forward to hearing of his continued success.”
Ormsby is a varsity member of the Homestead High School football team and a member of the Civil Air Patrol.
To assist in selecting the most qualified candidates, Coats formed an academy selection committee to review each application packet he received and to select the top applicants for interviews. These interviews were conducted in early December, and Coats nominated final candidates earlier this year.
About Academy Nominations:
Individuals interested in attending a U.S. service academy may apply for and receive nominations from both their U.S. Representative and their two U.S. Senators. Applicants may also apply to the Vice President of the United States, who can nominate applicants at large.
