VIOLA M. BEARD, 86
VIOLA M. BEARD, 86, formerly of Allen County, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born February 4, 1928 in Fort Wayne to the late Urban and Loretta (Till) Sorg. She worked in many capacities throughout her life, a cashier and stocker at Kmart, a cashier at Scotts, a Beautician and she also worked on the floor at Ajax and Essex Wire Die.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. She enjoyed yard work and gardening. She loved and cherished her grandchildren and will surely be missed.
Surviving are her daughter, Diana (Roger) Bailey of Yoder; siblings, Marie (John) Speith of Hoagland, Henry (Phyllis) Sorg, Clara Miller, and Robert (Irene) Sorg, all of Fort Wayne; granddaughters, Jamie Baines, Ashley Swanson, Audrea Hoelle, Tracy Grashoff, and Melissa Staton; and 11 great grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death was her husband, Robert Beard in 1989; daughter, Lois Reed in 1999; and siblings, Carl Sorg, Dale Sorg, and Luella Miller.
Mass of Christian Burial is Friday, March 28, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 14623 Bluffton Road, Yoder, IN 46798 with visitation 1-hour prior. Visitation also on Thursday, March 27, 2014 from 5 to 8 PM at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46809 with a rosary service at 7:30 PM. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
