ST. JOSEPH-ST. ELIZABETH SCHOOL NAMES JULIE PETERS LIGHT OF LEARNING AWARD
On December 6, at the end of the All School Mass, St. Joseph-St. Elizabeth School Principal Lois Widner announced this year’s nominee for the Light of Learning Award, a diocesan award that recognizes excellence in teaching in Catholic schools. This year’s nominee for St. Joseph-St. Elizabeth School is Mrs. Julie Peters.
Mrs. Peters is a first grade teacher at St. Joseph-St. Elizabeth School, where she has worked for 6 years. Mrs. Peters has been involved in a summertime math camp for the students. She also helps to direct her first graders in the annual fundraiser “Cookies for Christ” which raises money for the Sunshine Club which gives to families in need at Christmastime.
Previously, Mrs. Peters worked as a teacher for ten years at two Southwest Allen County elementary schools. Earlier in her career, she taught at Catholics schools. Mrs. Peters attended I.P.F.W.
“I am glad to be back in the Catholic schools,” said Mrs. Peters. “I couldn’t ask for a better place to work than St. Joseph-St. Elizabeth School!”
Mrs. Peters will attend a special luncheon and will be recognized along with other Catholic school teachers nominated by their principals as nominees for the diocesan Light of Learning award.
