VOICE YOUR THOUGHTS ON 2014 AGENDA ITEMS – STRAIGHT FROM THE SENATE

The Indiana General Assembly is scheduled to convene Jan. 6, 2014. As this important date approaches, I am seeking your input on topics expected to be discussed during the legislative session, which runs through March 14.

In early January, you will receive a newsletter from me sent to your home address. This newsletter will contain vital contact information, ways you can stay involved in your state government and a survey so you can voice your thoughts on current legislative issues.

It is my priority to make sure residents of Senate District 16 are fully informed and play an active role in state government. This is why I am sending out a newsletter. If you prefer to receive newsletters and updates over the Internet or by email, please let me know. I encourage you to visit IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Long to sign up for my e-newsletters, and fill out the survey electronically when it becomes available in early January.

IndianaSenate Republicans.com is also a great resource to stay informed about Senate activities during session. Here you can find information on legislative proposals, and track their movement through the legislative process. You can also watch committee hearings and Senate sessions live, and hear what your lawmakers are saying as they represent you at the Statehouse.

More information about getting involved in the Senate will be discussed in the upcoming newsletter.

Also in the newsletter, I will provide my contact information and a list of phone numbers for other state and federal offices, like the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. My Senate office receives numerous calls every day from constituents needing assistance from state government agencies. I encourage you to save this list and keep it handy for future use.

One of the most important components of the upcoming newsletter is the survey. You will have the opportunity to answer seven questions based on various proposals expected to come before the General Assembly. Your responses to this survey will help inform my decisions if these bills are put to a vote.

The survey includes questions related to education, health care, transportation funding and other key issues affecting the Hoosier State.

Up to two people from each household can answer the survey, which can then be mailed back to me at the Statehouse. Or, anyone in Senate District 16 can access the survey online at IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Long starting in January. Because I need to know your opinions on these topics as soon as possible, please complete all surveys by Jan. 31.

If you have any questions as you fill out the survey, please don’t hesitate to contact me by email at Senator.Long@iga.in.gov or by phone at 800-382-9467.
I look forward to your feedback, and to a productive legislative session.
