FIRST PLACE DODGEBALL TEAM AWARDS $1,500 TO SECOND PLACE
The first place team in the Allegiant “Dodge High Fares” Dodgeball Tournament awarded all proceeds from the event to their competitor in the championship game. Teams “The Really Really Big Show” and “Community Harvest Hunger Hitters” battled it out in an intense final game. In the end, “The Really Really Big Show” won three out of five matches and took home the first place title. The team chose to donate all event proceeds to Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana, Inc.
According to Jane Avery, Executive Director for Community Harvest Food Bank, “Our team was thrilled to make it to the finals and place second in the tournament. We thank the winners “The Really, Really Big Show” for their generosity in awarding the $1,500 in prize money to Community Harvest. Their generosity will help support nearly 6,000 meals in Northeast Indiana.”
The Allegiant “Dodge High Fares” Dodgeball Tournament was held on Sunday, July 14 as part of the Three Rivers Festival. The event drew 23 teams of six to 10 players and countless spectators. The winning team received FWA prize packs, TinCaps tickets, and got to select one local charity to receive all proceeds.
“We were really pleased with the number of teams who came out to support local charities and have some fun on the dodgeball court,” said Scott Hinderman, Executive Director of Airports for the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority. “This event was a great success thanks to the help of Allegiant and the National Dodgeball League. They were both great partners, and we thank Allegiant for helping Fort Wayne travelers to ‘dodge high fares’ on their vacation travel.”
Allegiant’s nationwide “Dodge High Fares” campaign continues through mid-August, with supplementary dodgeball tournaments taking place in the cities they service. The travel company will also be giving away one free roundtrip ticket each week to those who visit www.dodgehighfares.com and tell Allegiant what they want to dodge while on vacation.
Allegiant provides affordable airfares and vacation packages to four sunny destinations from Fort Wayne International Airport: Orlando/Sanford, Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fort Myers/Punta Gorda, and Myrtle Beach. Visit www.allegiant.com or call 702-505-8888 for reservation information.
