CAROLYN K. ELAM, 63

CAROLYN K. ELAM, 63, a lifelong resident of Waynedale died early Saturday, September 19, 2009 at her home.  She was born in Rhodell, West Virginia and later moved to Chicago, Illinois where she graduated from high school, married her love and had her two children. She moved to Fort Wayne in 1967.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, & friend to many. She always gave a helping hand to those in need.

She worked at Fort Wayne Wire Die for nearly 30 years before retiring. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and husband of 46 years. We would be remiss not to mention how much she loved her lap dog, Poodur. She loved her brother and sisters with everything she was. She simply was a family person.

She is survived by her husband Simms Edward Elam, two daughters Kimberly Elam-Winters and Patricia Elam-Payne, two grandchildren Abbagail (Adam) Hyder, and Kody Elam and two great grandchildren Adali Sophia and Benjamin Michael Hyder, all of Fort Wayne. She is also survived by two sisters Janice (Chuck) Bumke, Romeoville, Illinois, and Eva (Leif) Sandberg, Chicago, Illinois and a brother Douglas (Lois) Harvey, Ingleside, Illinois. She also had five sister-in-laws and one brother–in-law. She was also an aunt of twenty-four nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Mom, we will miss you more than any words could ever express. You will forever live in our hearts and through our stories of you.

Funerals service was at 1:00PM, Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, IN with calling on Tuesday from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
