VELMA B. RORICK, 99
VELMA B. RORICK, 99, of Ossian, formerly of Fort Wayne, died on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Lutheran Hospital. Born May 21, 1910, in Fort Wayne, she worked at General Electric during World War II and was also a salesperson for Avon products for several years. She was a member of Waynedale United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of Busy Bells Home Ec. Club and American Legion 330.
Survivors include her daughter, Jackie Gay (companion Bud) of Fort Wayne; sisters, Mildred Pope of New Castle and Doris Baker of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Pamela (William) Benoit of Athen, Ohio, Patti (Jerry) Gay-Schwarz of Benlomond, California, Richard (Melissa) Gay of Fort Wayne and James Rorick of Fort Wayne; great-grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Benoit-Bryan of Chicago, Illinois, Noah Schwarz of Benlomond, California and Madison Gay of Fort Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Rorick; children, Robert March and Alan Rorick; great-grandson, Bruce William Gay; and parents, Myrtle and Joseph Mason.
Service was 11 a.m. Saturday at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
