NARCIDEL PENNINGTON HOPPE, 84, of Salisbury, N.C., passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2009.
Narcidel was a member of First United Methodist Church in Salisbury, member of the United Methodist Women, a Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout leader, longtime volunteer for the American Bible Society, and also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She previously lived in Fort Wayne from 1953-1975, full-time homemaker, raised four children, member of Simpson United Methodist Church, Christ United Methodist Church, and Epworth United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, John G. Hoppe; sons, John Foy Hoppe and Bruce Hoppe; daughters, Marsha Barr (Martin) and Nita Matuska (Mark); sister, Louellyn Duncan; and grandchildren, Tonya Barr Treble, Evan Barr and Landon Matuska.
Service was 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Salisbury with the Reverend Steve Haines and Rev. Martha Ballard officiating. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Summersett Funeral Home in Salisbury. Burial at Salisbury National Cemetery, Statesville Blvd location.
