BYRON R. CARRIER, 78

BYRON R. CARRIER, 78, of Fort Wayne, died Friday, July 3, 2009, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home. Born May 25, 1931, in Fort Wayne, he earned a Masters degree in Education and served our country in the U.S. Army. He worked for Fort Wayne Community Schools at Elmhurst and Ivy Tech, retiring in 2008. He was also a member of St. Therese Catholic Church.

 

“He will be remembered for his love of teaching, sense of humor and his story-telling.”

He is survived by his wife, Mary L. Carrier of Fort Wayne; children, Theresa (Gary) Walker, Karen (Barry) Berggoetz, Dave (Kathy) Carrier, Diane (Matt) Day and Jeff (Myra) Carrier, all of Fort Wayne, Janine (Kurt) Saugstad of Greenwood, Indiana and Matt (Amy) Carrier of Naperville, Illinois; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Lillian Carrier of Dallas, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lydia (Doehrman) Carrier; and brother, Donald Carrier.

Mass of Christian Burial was 10 a.m. Monday at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road, with visitation one-hour prior at the church. Visitation also from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
