RICHARD L. “DICK” HANSEL, 78
RICHARD L. “DICK” HANSEL, 78, went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. He was born February 25, 1931, in Sioux City, Iowa. Serving his apprenticeship at Air-Flow Sheet Metal, he was a sheet metal worker for over 27 years, the last nine at International Harvester, before changing careers, retiring from Grabill Cabinets. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at MacDill Air Base in Tampa, Florida.
He was a loving, devoted husband and took great pride being the world’s greatest Dad and Grandpa.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Edna M. Hansel of Fort Wayne; children, Beverly (Ron) Chemasko of Wonder Lake, Illinois, Bryan (Patty) Hansel, Paula (Jerry) Spall and James (Christie) Hansel, all of Fort Wayne; brother, Ralph Hansel of Sioux City, Iowa; three grandchildren, Donald Pearce, Leighanna Egan and Nicholas Hansel; and two great-grandchildren, Jack and Fiona Egan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Melvin. Funeral service was 11 am. Monday at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Jim Moser officiated. Calling also from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
