AUDREY (GEBHART) MCCOY, 92

AUDREY (GEBHART) McCOY, 92, of Fort Wayne, died Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home. Born May 26, 1916, in Fort Wayne, her father-in-law, Arden McCoy was the founder of the Waynedale News in 1932. Audrey graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1934, and received her RN degree at St. Joseph School of Nursing 1937. She worked at Irene Byron Hospital after graduation and later became Head Surgical Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital, where she retired after 30 years of service. She married Victor McCoy in January of 1939; he preceded her death on December 30, 1994.

Surviving are daughter, Sandy (Dean) Anderson of Friendswood, Texas; son, Jim (Judi) McCoy of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; 13 great-grand-children; and sisters, Mildred Kohne of Fort Wayne and Adine Ralston of Tennessee.

Funeral service was Friday, February 13, at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road.

Memorial contributions to Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home or Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, Chicago.
