RICHARD A. LAUER, 85

RICHARD A. LAUER, 85, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Joseph and Bertha (Scherer) Lauer. He graduated from St. Mary’s Grade School and Central Catholic High School, with the Class of 1941. He served three years in the Pacific Theater in World War II in United States Air Force. He retired from General Telephone Co. as a PBX Technician for 41 years. He loved bowling, horseshoes, fishing, spending time at his Jones Lake Retreat, and was a long time Cubs Fan.

He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, American Legion Post 82, Fraternal Order of Eagles 248, and VFW Post.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, C. Jeanne “CJ” Lauer of Fort Wayne; sons, Ronald (Marita) Lauer of Leo, Randy Lauer and Douglas Lauer, both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Matthew (Jenny) Lauer, Ronita (Tony) Shepherd, Michelle Lauer, and McKenna Lauer, all of Fort Wayne, Todd Lauer of Indianapolis, and Margeaux (Joe) Carrao of Ohio; and great-grandchildren, Allison, Chris, Alexis, Brandon, and Michaela.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Bob; sisters, Leona and Ruth; and daughter-in-law, Debbie.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 2120 S. Harrison St., with calling one hour prior. Fr. Tony Steinacker officiating. Calling was also Sunday at Mungovan & Sons

Memorial Chapel, 2114 S. Calhoun St., with Vigil at 7:30 p.m. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials to St. Patrick’s for Masses or American Heart Association.
