REXIE S. JERNIGAN, 55

REXIE S. JERNIGAN, 55, of Fort Wayne, died Saturday, August 9, 2008, at his residence. Born April 10, 1953, in Tullahoma, Tennessee, he was the son of Sewell and Mary Jernigan. They survive in Fort Wayne. He was an accounting and finance professional recruiter in the mortgage business and had also worked in auto sales. He was instrumental in the revitalizing Q’Tox Athletic and Amusement Association, working there 15+ years. He was one of the first radio announcers at ROCK 104. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.

Also surviving are his wife, Karen A. Jernigan of Fort Wayne; daughter, Amber Jernigan of Fort Wayne; son, Preston Jernigan of Fort Wayne; sisters, Pam (Joel) Erwin of Carmel and Joy (Brian) Engquist of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by a son, Patrick S. Jernigan, in 1983.

First service was 10 a.m. Thursday at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne. Second service was 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Jude Catholic Church, 2130 Pemberton Drive, with visitation 1/2 hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
