MOTES & BEANS
I read those words when just a girl
But little did I dream
That is was me the Savior meant
Whose eye contained the beam!
Oh, I could clearly see the mote
Within my neighbor’s eye (brother’s)
I knew so well, his sins, his wrongs
He’d done so much more than I!
So much was I the Pharisee
And thankful for it, too
That I was not “like other men”
How could I think that true?
Oh, Lord forgive, help me remove
This beam that clouds my view
I hang my head in grief and shame
Iam a sinner, too.
Help me judge not lest I be judged
And may I look with love
On others faults and leave to Thee
To judge best from above.
